SANTA CRUZ, Calif. – Rivier women's basketball was downed by Cal Lutheran by a final score of 74-55 in its final competition of the UC Santa Cruz Thanksgiving Classic on Saturday evening at Kaiser Permanente Arena.
The Raiders now hold a 2-5 record on the season as the Regals notched its first victory of the season to sit at 1-3.
With a five-point lead intact at the first media timeout of the first quarter, Cal Lutheran went on a 9-2 run to finish the opening 10 minutes with a 23-11 lead. Rivier's Hannah Muchemore recorded three points and three assists.
Cal Lutheran's lead would continue to grow over the final three quarters as the Regals' Alline Ballard registered a double-double with 18 points and 14 rebounds to shut down a Raiders' comeback bid.
Muchemore finished with 13 points, seven assists, two steals, and a block for Rivier. Lyric Grumblatt registered 12 points with seven rebounds, five assists, two blocks, and one steal.
Rivier returns home to Muldoon Gymnasium on Thursday, Nov. 30 with a regional non-conference matchup against Brandeis with tip-off set for 7:00 p.m.
