Men's Volleyball Splits with Regis and Wentworth

NASHUA, NH: Rivier men's volleyball split the day by taking down Regis College and falling to Wentworth in conference action.

THE BASICS:

- Date: 3/18/23

- Score: Rivier 3, Regis 0 (25-15, 25-16, 25-14). Wentworth 3, Rivier 1 (25-21, 17-25, 15-25, 16-25 )

- Records: Wentworth (15-6, 9-0 GNAC), Rivier (10-9, 6-2 GNAC), Regis (6-11, 1-5 GNAC)

HOW IT HAPPENED: Match One

-  The Raiders offense was powered by Sokunbuth Ly (Lowell, MA) and Jack Normandin (Clifton Park, NY). Ly finished with a game-high ten kills, with Normandin right behind him with eight. Thomas Miller (Clifton Park, NY) topped the team in digs with 16. He also contributed three assists. Ethan Soltis (Massillon, OH) dished out 20 assists along with eight digs.

- The Pride struggled offensively, hitting for just .010 on the day with just 21 kills. Joseph Perez finished with a team-high eight kills. Marcello Cappuccio did as much as he could defensively, finishing with a match-high 19 digs. Tyrell Bucasas ended with 17 assists of the team's 21.  

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:

-  Kills: Rivier 37, Regis 21

-  Assists: Rivier 33, Regis 21

-  Digs: Rivier 52, Regis 42

HOW IT HAPPENED: Match Two

-  The Raiders got off to a good start, with the best set coming in the first. They finished with 17 team kills on just three errors. They would cool off, however, and drop the next three sets. Normandin made his presence felt throughout this one finishing with 14 kills to go along with 13 digs. Ly also finished in double digits with 11 kills. Soltis added another 33 assists to his stat line, giving him 53 on the day.

-  Wentworth was carried by Jacob LaBouliere, who had an impressive 26 kills with just one error on 37 attempts, good enough for a .676 kill percentage. Hunter Oshman did contribute another 15 kills and seven blocks. Josh Milke handled all the setting for the Leopards, dishing out 44 of the team's 46 assists.  

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:

-  Kills: Wentworth 50, Rivier 44

-  Assists: Wentworth 46, Rivier 39

-  Digs: Rivier 53, Wentworth 49
