KEENE, N.H. – Keene St. scored twice in the third period to secure a 4-3 victory over the Rivier women's ice hockey team in non-conference action on Friday night at Keene ICE.
The Raiders fell to 2-5 while the Owls improved to 5-2. Keene St. now holds a 3-0 advantage over Riv in the four-game season series which concludes on Wednesday, Jan. 15 at Conway Arena.
The Owls took a 1-0 lead into the first intermission after Paige Henault scored at the 14:29 mark on a power play chance.
After Keene St. doubled its lead 5:46 into the second period, Rivier scored three goals over the final 11:52 of the frame to storm back and hold a 3-2 lead at the break. Sophomore Tia Picardi got Rivier on the board, scoring on the powerplay. Senior Grace Arsenault ripped a shot into the top corner over seven minutes later to tie the contest before junior Jessica Driscoll lit the lamp in the final minute to give Riv a one-goal advantage.
Keene St. erased its deficit in the third, scoring on even strength and power play opportunities, to secure the victory.
Rivier was narrowly outshot, 34-33, in the loss with senior netminder Rachel Symmes making 30 saves.
The Raiders went 1-for-5 on the power play while the Owls went 2-for-7.
Driscoll was the lone Raider to post a multiple-point night (1-1-2), finishing a team-best +2.
The Raiders return to Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (GNAC) action on Saturday, Nov. 23 at 4:20 p.m. in a home matchup against Worcester St. on Youth Hockey Night.
