Women's Ice Hockey Scores Program-High 10 Goals in Win Over Framingham St.

FRAMINGHAM, Mass. – The Rivier women's ice hockey team set a new program record for most goals scored in a game Saturday night in their 10-1 win over Framingham St. in a Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) showdown at Loring Arena.

The Raiders jumped to 2-2-0 (2-0-0 MASCAC) with the win, while as the Rams fell to 0-4-0 (0-1-0 MASCAC).

Four different Raiders found twine in the opening period. Senior forward Brianna Parent snuck the puck under the goalie's pads for the first goal of the night and her first of the season. First-year forward Keegan McGaheran fired the puck behind the standing goalie just three minutes later to extend the lead to two.

Junior forward Jessica Driscoll flew around the bottom left face-off circle and teed on up in the slot for her second goal of the season and gave Rivier a 3-0. Sophomore forward Kayley Young found junior defender Molly Dukesherer in the slot for a one timer down on one knee that found the top right corner to increase the scoring margin to four. 1:31 later junior Brianna Rumptz found Parent for her second of the night to give the Raiders a 5-0 lead.

58 seconds after the Rams cut the lead to four, sophomore forward Rebecca McKelvey scored her second of the year to close out the first period.

Rivier held Framingham St. scoreless through the remaining two periods. McKelvey struck gold again 14:03 into the second. Senior forward Briana Paxson scored her first of the year in the remaining 1:15 of the second period and put the Raiders ahead 8-1.

Sophomore Tia Picardi found twine on a short-handed breakaway after senior defender Grace Arsenault connected from behind Rivier's net. With 6:59 remaining in the game, Rumptz and Parent linked up one final time for Parent to secure the hat trick and close out the game 10-1.

Senior goalie Rachel Symmes and sophomore goalie Taylor Bruno both saw time in the contest. They combined for 20 saves on the night.

The Raiders are back on home ice for Epilepsy Awareness Night Friday, Nov.15 to take on non-conference foe Keene St. Puck-drop is set for 7:00 p.m. at Conway Arena.
