Field Hockey Bested by Dean

NASHUA, N.H. – The Rivier field hockey team fell to the Bulldogs of Dean College 8-1 in Great Northeast Athletic Conference play Saturday afternoon at Joanne Merrill Field. 

With the result, Dean improved to 10-6 overall (6-1 GNAC), while Rivier moved to 2-11 (2-6 GNAC). 

HOW IT HAPPENED  

  • Dean found success early scoring 3 unanswered in the 16 minutes of action
  • Senior Reilly Swislosky found the back of the net off a corner by first-year Mary Kelly at 16:41 of the second quarter. 
  • The Bulldogs would go on to score 5 more unanswered goals following the Raiders' lone goal
  • Despite Dean's offensive success throughout the first three quarters, Rivier held them scoreless for the final 15 minutes of play 

BOX SCORE BREAKDOWN  

  • Senior goalkeeper Lily Gifford finished with three saves for the Raiders  
  • Corners favored the Bulldogs with 14 to the Raiders 7
  • Dean held the advantage in total shots, outshooting Rivier, 19-8
