Women’s Volleyball Sweeps Framingham St.

NASHUA, N.H. – The Rivier women's volleyball team returned home to resume its match with non-conference opponent Framingham St. and picked up a straight-set win Wednesday evening at the Muldoon Center.

With the win, the Raiders improved to 11-10, while the Rams fall to 12-6.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Framingham St. opened the match strong, building a 4–1 lead before Rivier found its rhythm behind kills from junior Sam Driend and sophomore Savannah Dunne
  • Junior Lacey Turner delivered a 5–1 run from behind the service line that tied the set, 17-17
  • The Rams regained their lead midway through the set, but senior Callie Nanos's success at the service line game the Raiders a late lead
  • A late kill from first-year Emma Zeblisky sent the Rivier to set point 24–22, and Brakefield secured the set, 25–23, with a decisive swing
  • Both teams were knotted up 4-4 to begin the second stanza
  • Miller gave the Raiders their first lead of the frame with a strong service run, while Brakefield added two kills to keep the Raiders in control
  • The Rams made a push to close within four at 19–15, but sophomore Lily Seibel connected with Brakefield for a timely kill to put the rally to a halt
  • Nanos finished off the set with a kill, giving Rivier the 25–20 win and a 2–0 match lead
  • The Raiders controlled the third frame from start to finish, racing out to a 11–7 lead behind Turner's serving and efficient attacking from Zeblisky and Nanos
  • Seibel continued to distribute the ball effectively, setting up Dunne, Driend, and Brakefield to extend the lead to nine
  • Zeblisky sealed the sweep with her seventh kill of the night, a career-best, securing the match, 25–16

  • Brakefield led all players with nine kills and a .333 hitting percentage
  • Nanos and Zeblisky each tallied seven kills, with Nanos swinging at a .429 clip
  • Seibel paced the offense with 32 assists, 14 digs, and two service aces
