WENHAM, Mass. – The Rivier field hockey team blanked non-conference opponents Gordon, 4-0, Friday evening at the Brigham Athletic Center.
With the win, the Raiders improved to 3-12, while the Fighting Scots fell to 1-15
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The first quarter was a defensive showcase as both teams were held without a shot recorded
- Rivier broke through Gordon's back line, recording seven total shots, however the Fighting Scots' defense and goalkeeping held firm sending both teams into the half scoreless
- The Raiders broke the deadlock one minute into the second half. Senior Reilly Swislosky found the back of the net on a feed from sophomore Kelsey Bain
- First-year Lexi Davies connected with classmate Mary Kelley to double the score in the 40th minute
- Rivier recorded its third score just shy of two minutes into the fourth quarter as Bain found junior Shaelyn Burke to take a 3-0 lead
- With 3:42 remaining in the contest, Swislosky found twine for the second time on her own to seal the contest, 4-0
BOX SCORE BREAKDOWN
- As a team the Raiders outshot the Fighting Scotts 11-1and held the advantage in corner opportunities, 11-4
- Senior Brianna Spinelli posted a game-high six shots on goal
- Senior goalkeeper Lily Gifford saved the one shot she faced

The Raiders return to action Thursday, Oct. 23 for the programs' Raider game as they take on non-conference opponents Framingham St. The game is set for 7:00 p.m. at Joanne Merrill Field.
