HENNIKER, N.H. – The Rivier men's soccer team held off a late push from New England Col. (NEC) to secure the program's fourth consecutive Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) win and secure its spot in the GNAC Postseason Tournament.
With the win, the Raiders improved to 6-4-6 (6-2-2 GNAC), while the Pilgrims fell to 7-6-3 (3-5-2 GNAC).
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Both teams battled in the first half with Rivier holding a slight edge in shots, 3-1, however neither team was able to convert and entered the break deadlocked, 0-0
- The Raiders controlled the pace of play to open the second stanza recording the first three shots of the half
- First-year Vincent Arsenov broke the deadlock in the 60th minute on a feed from sophomore defender Luiggi Ferreira for his first goal of his collegiate career
- Rivier doubled its lead roughly 15 minutes later as sophomore Alejandro Quezada found twine, increasing the Raiders' advantage to two
- NEC converted a penalty kick late in the frame, limiting the deficit to one goal
- Rivier's defense held firm the final seven minutes of action, holding the Pilgrims to just one shot to secure the 2-1 victory

- Arsenov and Quezada each logged two points in the win
- Sophomore Kamar Matthew-Murray and Arsenov each recorded a game-high three shots
- Junior goalkeeper Logan Clough logged one save and earned the win in the outing

The Raiders return to action Saturday, Oct. 25 to take on GNAC foe Elms for their penultimate match of the 2025 regular season. Kick-off is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. at Joanne Merrill Field.
