BRISTOL, R.I. — The Rivier women's volleyball team fell in four sets to non-conference opponents, Roger Williams, on Wednesday evening inside the Paolino Recreation Center.
With the loss, the Raiders fell to 13–12, while the Hawks improved to 11–9.
How It Happened
- Rivier jumped out to an early lead with a pair of kills from seniors Ali Rivera and Callie Nanos, but Roger Williams responded to regain the three two points later
- The Raiders countered with a 5-0 run to retake the lead, but the Hawks answered the call once more, this time on a 6-0 run to take a two-point advantage
- Roger Williams capped off the set on a 4–0 run to take the opener
- Rivier held a brief 2–0 advantage before the Hawks surged ahead over a 6–1 stretch
- Nanos and Rivera sparked the offense with a kill and an ace to take a 9-8 just shy of the midway point
- Roger Williams retook control of the frame, taking a five-point lead following a 7-1 run
- Despite first-year Emma Zeblisky recording an ace and a kill late, the Hawks secured the set with five straight points, 25-18
- The Raiders found their rhythm offensively, hitting .323 in the third set
- Rivier used a 6–2 early-set run that featured an ace from senior Kaitlyn Miller and a pair of kills by sophomore Lily Seibel to take a 6–2 lead
- The Raiders fell behind halfway through the set, but bounced back with a 5-0 run to retake the lead, 18-14
- Rivier were able to hold off a late push from Roger Williams and comeback to take the set, 25-23, with two kills from first-year Reagan Pepin
- Rivier regained its momentum after falling behind early in the fourth behind a service ace from Rivera and two kills from sophomore Savannah Dunne.
- The Raiders held a 22–21 advantage before the Hawks rallied for a 4-1 run to clinch the match, 25-23
