NASHUA, N.H. – The Rivier men's soccer team defeated Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) foe, Colby-Sawyer, 2-1, in their final regular season game on to clinch the No. 2 seed in the GNAC Postseason Tournament Wednesday evening at Joanne Merrill Field.
The Raiders concluded their regular season with a record of 8-4-6 (8-2-2 GNAC), while the Chargers finished with a record of 4-10-4 (3-6-3 GNAC).
Rivier's eight conference victories marks the most against league opponents in program history, surpassing the 2000 squad.
With the decision, the Raiders improved to 1-11-1 all-time against the Chargers, entering tonight's matchup winless in the 12 previous meetings.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- First-year Tanner Keenan chipped one in off a feed from classmate Vincent Arsenov in the 21st minute to put the Raiders up 1–0.
- With seven minutes remaining in the first half, Arsenov drew a penalty kick that sophomore Alejandro Quezada converted from the spot, sending the Raiders into the break with a 2–0 lead.
- The Chargers cut the deficit to 2-1 with 20 minutes left in the match.
