NEW LONDON, N.H. – The Rivier women's volleyball team defeated Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) foe Colby-Sawyer and non-conference opponent Mass. Maritime in a tri-match Saturday afternoon.
With the wins, the Raiders improved to 8-9 (3-0 GNAC), while the Chargers fell to 6-8 (3-1 GNAC) and the Buccaneers fell to 4-11.

HOW IT HAPPNED
- Both teams traded opportunities with five tie scores and two lead changes to open the contest
- Rivier broke the 10-10 deadlock off the back of a four-point rally with senior Callie Nanos logging back-to-back service aces to take a 13-10 advantage
- The Raiders never looked back in the opening set, continue to surge offensively and forced Colby-Sawyer into a timeout following a kill from sophomore Lydia Brakefield
- An ace from first-year Reagan Pepin sent Rivier to set point, putting the Raiders out of reach, taking the set 25-15
- The Chargers rebounded in the second set, opening with an 8-3 lead and never gave their lead up, knotting the match up one game a piece
- Rivier found it stride once again in the third set, taking a 15-9 advantage midway through the frame
- After forcing Colby-Sawyer into a timeout, the Raiders went on an 8-0 run that included a pair of kills from both junior Lacey Turner and Nanos to take a 2-1 match lead
- Rivier carried over its offensive success into the fourth set, jumping out to a 14-1 lead
- The Raiders extended its lead to 16 on after kills by junior Sam Driend and sophomore Savannah Dunne
- With Sophomore Lily Seibel behind the service line, Rivier closed out the match 25-9
BOX SCORE BREAKDOWN
- Driend recorded a game-high 10 kills with a .250 hitting percentage and 21digs, followed by Turner with 10 kills and 17 digs
- Seibel posted 32 assists and 19 digs in the win
- As a team, the Raiders outpaced the Chargers in kills (43-30), assists (35-29), and digs (87-75)

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Mass. Maritime opened the contest with a 6-1, however, Rivier fought their way back into tying the game up, 10-10
- Callie Nanos and Lacey Turner sparked the offensive surge that put the Raiders out in front
- Following a Buccaneer's timeout, Rivier went on a 12-7 run to claim the first set 25-17
- The second set was an even exchange between both squads right to the very end with 12 total tie scores and five lead changes
- A kill from Sam Driend allowed the Raiders to create a little separation which they maintained through the remainder of the set to take a 2-0 match lead.
- Rivier continued to have success offensively, opening the third set with a 15-3 lead
- A pair of kills from sophomore Meghan North put the Raiders out in front 19-8
- With Rivier on match point, North logged an ace to take the match 25-9
BOX SCORE BREAKDOWN
- Turner added 10 more kills to her total on the day, followed by Nanos with eight with a .467 hitting percentage
- Lily Seibel recorded 31 assists with 17 digs, a team-high defensively

The Raiders return to the court for a Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) matchup against Simmons on Tuesday, Oct. 7. First serve is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. at the Holmes Sport Center.
