WATERVILLE, Maine - The Rivier women's basketball team fell on the road to Colby College, 86-43, in a non-conference match up Thursday evening at the Margaret M. Crook Center.
With the loss, the Raiders moved to 0-5 on the season, while the Mules improved to 3-0.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Colby came out firing, opening the game with an 11-0 run
- Junior Mia Fantauzzi put the Raiders on the board with a pair of free throws, and later knocked down a three to help the Raiders settle in
- Colby continued to have success offensively, closing out the first quarter ahead 29-11
- First-year Madi Ricker provided a spark for Rivier in the second quarter knocking down two threes
- The Mules continued their strong offensive rhythm, extending their lead to 51-21 at halftime
- Rivier posted its strongest offensive frame in the third quarter with 16 points
- Junior Haley Phillips led the charge with five points in the stanza, including a layup and a free throw
- Ricker added seven third-quarter points as the Raiders continued to battle, but Colby countered with efficient scoring to maintain control
- The Mules once again pulled away in the fourth, outscoring Rivier 12-6 to seal the contest, 86-43.
BOX SCORE BREAKDOWN
- Ricker led the Raiders with a career-best 17 points, shooting 7-of-18 from the field and adding five rebounds
- Fantauzzi followed with nine points, while Sydney Perry contributed four points and four rebounds.
- Sophomore Hannah Smith added five boards and two points in her first collegiate start
- Phillips finished with five points off the bench
- The Mules held the slight advantage in rebounds, 27-23
