NASHUA, N.H. – The Rivier women's ice hockey team downed MCLA 6-2 in Massachusetts State College Athletic Conference (MASCAC) play on Friday night at Conway Arena.
With the result, the Raiders improved to 3-3 (3-1 MASCAC) while the Trailblazers dropped to 0-6 (0-3 MASCAC).
HOW IT HAPPENED
- First-year Chloe Bryda opened the scoring 5:43 into the contest, finishing a setup from classmates Mary Kelley and Ella Spinazola.
- Senior Olivia Schultz added a power-play tally, assisted by first-year Marina Bassett and fellow senior Jillian Hallee.
- The Raiders struck twice more in the second, both from first-year Giada Musa, her first at 3:36 off a feed from Alexa Vencill, and her second at 11:39 from junior Kayley Young, to push the lead to 4–0.
- The Trailblazers netted their first goal at the 15:05 mark.
- In the final frame, first-year Casey Roth tucked in a backhand to make it 5-1.
- Déjà vu at the 9:14 mark, as Spinazola and Kelley set up Bryda once again for her second of the night, extending the Raiders' lead to 6-1.
- MCLA tallied another with five minutes remaining in the game to cut the lead to 6-2.
BOX SCORE BREAKDOWN
- First-year Emily Krauss and senior Amelia Lebrun split time in the net, recording a combined 18 saves.
- The Raiders outshot the Trailblazers 56-20
- The Raiders controlled the faceoff circle, winning 40–22.
- Sophomore Lillian Wojcicki led the Raiders with 11 wins at the dot.
