NASHUA, N.H. – The Rivier men's basketball team held off a late Plymouth State surge to secure a 66–65 home victory on Tuesday night inside the Muldoon Center.
With the win, the Raiders improve to 4-4 on the season.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Rivier opened the night with one of its strongest offensive halves of the season, shooting 55.2% from the floor and knocking down eight three-pointers to build early separation.
- Senior Robenson Baguidy set the tone immediately, pouring in 19 first-half points and sparking a 9-0 run that pushed Rivier ahead 26-17 midway through the half.
- Junior Theo Briscoe IV added three first-half threes, while senior Izaiah Shaw-Glen controlled the glass with six early rebounds as the Raiders carried a 43-33 lead into halftime.
- The Raiders extended their advantage to 12 early in the second when Shaw-Glen finished at the rim, but Plymouth St. responded with an 11-0 run to briefly take a 48-47 lead.
- Rivier answered immediately as senior Jamari Williams provided a burst off the bench, picking up a steal, bucket, and attacked the glass to help the Raiders regain control.
- Briscoe delivered a clutch three from the left wing at the 6:25 mark, pushing the lead to 60-53 and halting the Panthers' momentum.
- Shaw-Glen followed with a series of mid-range jumpers and key defensive rebounds, allowing Rivier to rebuild its cushion to 66-59 with just over three minutes remaining.
- Plymouth St. tightened the gap late, converting at the free-throw line to make it a one-point game in the final minute, but the Raiders' defense came up with the final stop, forcing a contested buzzer-beater to seal the 66-65 victory.
