NASHUA, N.H. – The Rivier women's basketball team dropped a non-conference matchup to Plymouth State, 68-56, on Tuesday evening at the Muldoon Center.
With the loss, the Raiders dropped to 0-7 on the season, while the Panthers improved to 6-1.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Rivier came out strong in the opening quarter, matching Plymouth State basket for basket.
- Sophomore Sydney Perry set the tone early with tough finishes inside, while first-year Madi Ricker knocked down a pair of threes to keep the Raiders level
- The Raiders' ball movement created quality looks throughout the frame, and their defensive pressure forced several early Panther turnovers
- The teams traded runs, but Rivier closed the quarter tied 17-17, showcasing one of their most balanced starts of the season.
- In the second quarter, Plymouth State gained momentum, outscoring the Raiders 17-6 to take a 34-23 lead into halftime.
- The Panthers continued to extend their advantage in the third, posting 21 points to widen the gap
- Rivier responded with a strong fourth quarter, scoring 21 points, their best offensive frame of the night.
- Perry powered the late surge with dominant interior play, while Ricker and sophomore Gianna Donato added key buckets from outside to trim the deficit
- Despite the push, Plymouth State's efficiency on both ends allowed them to close out the win.
