Men’s Ice Hockey Fall at No. 6/7 Curry

CANTON, Mass. – The Rivier men's ice hockey team dropped a non-conference matchup against No. 6/7 Curry, 0-0, Saturday afternoon at the Canton Ice House.

With the result, the Raiders fell to 1-8-1, while the Colonels improved to 5-1-0.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Curry broke the deadlock just 8:44 into the first period.
  • Junior Shawn Golden tied the game with the help of passes from sophomore Brady Bomal and senior Alfred Rotiroti.
  • The Colonels recorded two more tallies in a 3:22 span, the first coming on the man advantage with 1:13 remaining in the opening frame and the second being scored just 2:09 into the second period.
  • Sophomore Michael Caparco found twine to cut Curry's advantage to one on helpers from first-years Payton Kender and Mason Rudrud.
  • The Colonels added one more score at 7:14 in the second, regaining their two-goal advantage.
  • Curry tacked on four unanswered goals in the final 20 minutes of action, sealing the contest 8-2.
BOX SCORE BREAKDOWN
  • Sophomore goaltender Josh Kirton logged 54 saves in the outing.
  • Caparco and Rotiroti recorded a team-high three shots each.

The Raiders return to the ice Dec. 4 for a Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) showdown with the Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts. Puck drop is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. at the Peter W. Foote Vietnam Veterans Memorial Rink.
