NASHUA, N.H. – The Rivier women's soccer team outpaced Lasell, 1-0, in the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Semifinal on Wednesday evening at Joanne Merrill Field to secure their spot in the GNAC Championship for the first time in program history.
With the result, the Raiders improved to 14-4-2 (11-1-1 GNAC), while the Lasers concluded their season 12-4-2 (10-2-1 GNAC).
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Both teams battled in the midfield through the opening 20 minutes, with Rivier holding a slight edge in shots, 2-1
- In the 21st minute, sophomore Leah Morrier chipped the ball past two defenders into open spaced and cashed in to put the Raider up 1-0
- Rivier's defense held firm in the second half to securing the 1-0 victory, limiting Lasell's offense to just four shots over the final 45 minutes of play
