NASHUA, N.H. — The Rivier men's ice hockey team was defeated by Mass. Liberal Arts (MCLA) in Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) action on Friday evening at Conway Arena, 4-0.
With the loss, the Raiders dropped to 5-14-1 (1-11-1 MASCAC) while the Trailblazers improved to 4-16-1 (4-8-1 MASCAC).
Despite outshooting the Trailblazers 14-12 in the first period, the Raiders found themselves trailing 1-0 after the opening frame. MCLA increased the pressure, scoring on the man advantage late in the second period to take a 2-0 lead heading into the final frame.
The Trailblazers added two more goals in the final period to seal the 4-0 victory.
Senior goaltender LJ Newell recorded 29 saves in the loss.
The Raiders return to MASCAC action in a road matchup at Plymouth St. on Saturday, Feb. 8. Puck drop is slated for 6:00 p.m. at Hanaway Rink.
