STANDISH, Maine – The Rivier women's lacrosse team fell to Saint Joseph's (Me.) by a final score of 9-4 on Friday night at the SJC Athletics Complex in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) clash.
The Raiders now sit at 7-5 (6-3 GNAC) while the Monks improved to 9-4 (7-1 GNAC).
Mackenzie Siebert scored a natural hat trick for SJC to take a 3-0 lead, scoring once in the first quarter and twice in the opening 3:01 of the second. Rivier responded to cut the deficit to one as sophomore Sofia Cebrero and senior Cassie Hemmerdinger scored within a minute span to make it a 3-2 game. The teams then traded goals before Siebert scored her fourth of the half with 3:02 to play in the second to make it 5-3 in favor of the hosts before halftime.
Senior Sarah Lachance was the lone Raider to score in the second half. The Monks finished the game with four unanswered goals to convincingly take the game.
Senior goalie Rachel Hinkley posted eight saves in the loss.
Rivier returns to action on Saturday, April 19 for Senior Day at Joanne Merrill Field. The opening draw in a GNAC clash against Norwich is set to begin at 3:00 p.m.
