Lopez Named Director of Athletic Communications

NASHUA, N.H. – Rivier University Director of Athletics Joseph Brady has named Matt Lopez as the next Director of Athletic Communications, effectively immediately.

Lopez will be responsible for the production, promotion, and publicity of all 13 Raiders' varsity teams, as well as the athletic department, and will oversee two graduate assistants.

"We are excited to welcome Matt Lopez as our new Director of Athletic Communications. It was clear from my conversations with Matt and feedback from our coaches that he is the right person for this position", commented Director of Athletics Joseph Brady. "In his time as a graduate assistant with Rivier last year, Matt proved himself to be an outstanding professional with a strong work ethic and deep commitment to the student-athletes and coaches. His prior experience at Endicott College, UMass Boston, and Nichols College has provided him with a well-rounded background in sports information and game day operations. I am confident that his creativity, knowledge, and dedication will enhance our communications efforts and further elevate the Rivier Athletics brand."

"I am excited to continue my journey at Rivier as the Director of Athletic Communications," said Lopez. "I want to thank the Director of Athletics, Joseph Brady, as well as the coaches and staff for their belief in me as I look to continue growing the department and enhancing the student-athlete experience."

Lopez returns to Rivier where he served as a graduate assistant over the 2024-25 academic year. During his year-long stint with the Raiders, he assisted in the launch of the brand-new athletics website in partnership with SIDEARM. He also played a major role in enhancing the live broadcast experience for viewers which incorporates multiple camera angles and play-by-play commentators for every contest.

Prior to his time at Rivier, Lopez served as a part-time sports information assistant at UMass Boston during the spring 2024 season where he provided statistical inputting for several programs, including the softball, men's lacrosse, and men's tennis teams. He also spent time as a student-worker and intern with athletic communications staff at Nichols College while pursuing his undergraduate degree, assisting with inputting live stats, producing live broadcasts, as well as maintaining the athletics website.

Prior to his senior year, Lopez served as an intern with the Endicott College athletic communications staff, monitoring the Gulls' social media channels as well as contributing to written website content, among other tasks.

Lopez also served as a game day operations intern with the Bourne Braves of the Cape Cod Baseball League in the summer of 2021 where he helped facilitate interactive fan experiences.

Lopez graduated from Nichols in May 2024 with a Bachelor's degree in Sport Management and a minor in Sports Analytics. He is currently pursuing his MBA in Management from Rivier.
