GORHAM, Maine— The Rivier men's soccer team traveled to Hannaford Field on Saturday afternoon for a non-conference match-up against the University of Southern Maine. The Raiders held a narrow lead for most of the match, but a late goal from the Huskies forced a 1-1 final.
With the result, the Raiders improved to a 0-0-1 record, while the Huskies fell to 0-0-1.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Just one minute into the match, first-year Andrew Velasquez found the back of the net, capitalizing on a corner kick delivered by sophomore Alejandro Quezada to give Rivier an early 1-0 lead.
- The Raiders held firm defensively for nearly the entire match, allowing just four total shots on goal.
- Southern Maine broke through at the 88:47 mark, as Ahmed Al Mshakheel connected with Liam Conneely off a corner kick off their own to score the equalizer.

- Both teams finished with four corners apiece.
- The Huskies were the more offensive side, outshooting the Raiders, 8 -3.
