Box Score NASHUA, N.H. – The Rivier women's soccer team defeated Mitchell College in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) contest, Saturday, Sept. 13th at Joanne Merrill Field. A well-rounded offensive effort helped the Raiders secure the win over the Mariners to remain undefeated in conference play.
With the victory, the Raiders improved to 2-3-1 (2-0-0 GNAC), while the Mariners dropped to 0-3-0 (0-2-0 GNAC).
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Rivier established control of the pace of play right away.
- The Raiders got on the board 10 minutes into the half as first-year Hayleigh Young set up sophomore Leah Morrier for the opening goal.
- Two minutes later, Morrier connected with first-year Bailey Gatchell for a low strike, adding to the Raiders' advantage, 2-0.
- Young scored her first collegiate goal off a feed from junior Maya Leach, putting the Raiders ahead 3–0 in the 17th minute.
- Morrier capped the Raiders' scoring in the 28th minute, netting her second of the day to give Rivier a 4–0 lead at halftime.
- The Raiders maintained the offensive pressure in the second half, firing 24 shots but unable to convert, closing out a 4–0 victory.
