BOSTON, Mass. – The Rivier women's volleyball team defeated Emerson in four sets in game one but fell to Wentworth in Saturday afternoon's non-conference tri-match at Bobbi Brown and Steven Plofker Gym.
With the split, the Raiders now hold a record of 3-7, while the Lions hold a 3-5 record and the Leopards jumped to 7-2.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The match opened with seven lead changes before back-to-back kills from seniors Ali Rivera and Callie Nanos propelled Rivier out in front 19-15
- A kill from junior Sam Driend gave the Raiders a six point that was quickly cut to four by a three-point comeback attempt by Emerson.
- An error at the service line halted the Lions' run and secured the first set, 25-20, for Rivier
- The second set played out in a similar fashion to the opening frame totaling eight lead changes and 15 tie scores
- Following a service ace by junior Lacey Turner to bring the Raiders to an equal playing field once more, Emerson found its stride late in the set
- The Lions go out to as much as a four-point lead down the stretch, but a 9-1 run by the Raiders, highlighted by three kills from Turner and a kill from sophomore Savannah Dunne clinched the set and put Rivier up 2-0
- A pair of services aces gave Emerson a 3-0 to open the third set
- Rivier battled back into the game leading both squads into 11 more tie scores and four lead changes
- With both teams deadlocked at 19, it was the Lions that went on the late run to force an extra set, taking the third, 25-23
- Rivier held the slight lead to begin the fourth set until back-to-back kills from sophomore Lily Seibel and Turner put the Raiders ahead 10-6
- Rivier remained out in front until Emerson surged to knot the game up at 24-24
- A kill by Driend gave the Raiders the fuel to secure the match with a fourth set score of 27-25
BOX SCORE BREAKDOWN
- As a team, Rivier totaled 49 kills on a .243 hitting percentage
- Rivera led the offense with 16 kills on a .262 hitting percentage followed by Turner who contributed 11 kills and seven digs
- Seibel set a new career-high assists total for a game with 35, adding five kills and 11 digs to her line
- Senior libero Kaitlyn Miller was the defense leader for the Raiders, tallying 12 digs

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Wentworth controlled the first set from the service line, recording eight aces throughout the frame
- In a late attempt to narrow the lead, Callie Nanos and Sam Driend rattled home a pair of kills, but the Leopards ended up taking the set, 25-11
- Wentworth continued its dominance into the second and third sets
- The Raiders showed fight in the second, with kills from Driend, Ali Rivera, and Lily Seibel keeping them within striking distance before the Leopards pulled away, 25-14.
- Wentworth secured the third set in a similar fashion to the second, going on a 12-4 to lock up the set and match, 25-14
BOX SCORE BREAKDOWN
- Driend and turner led the offense with five and four kills respectively
- Rivera logged a team-high 10 digs
- Seibel added 14 more assists to her total on the day

The Raiders return to the court Wednesday, Sept. 17 for a non-conference clash with intrastate opponents Keene St. First serve is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. at the Spaulding Gymnasium.
