DUDLEY, Mass. – The Rivier women's soccer team scored six unanswered goals to rout Nichols, 7-2, in a non-conference matchup at the Nichols Soccer Field Tuesday afternoon.
With the win, the Raiders improved to 3-3-1, while the Bison fell to 1-6-0.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Nichols were the first on the board, finding twine just 1:58 into the game
- Rivier responded just 1:07 later as junior Cadance Ryan connected with sophomore Leah Morrier, who put home the game-tying shot from outside the 18-yard box
- The Bison once again gained a one-goal advantage in the seventh minute
- The Raiders brought the game level in the 17th minute, this time with Ryan striking the blow on a pass from sophomore Julia Acampora for her first goal of the 2025 campaign
- Just over four minutes later, first-years Hayleigh Young and Bailey Gatchell connected to give Rivier a 3-2 advantage
- After scoring their third goal, the Raiders dominated offensively, outshooting Nichols 5-0, but were unable to capitalize and carried their 3-2 lead into halftime
- Rivier continued to build off its offensive momentum to start the second half, logging two early shots
- Graduate student Samantha Franks logged her second goal of the 2025 campaign from just outside the six-yard box on a feed from Morrier, giving the Raiders a 4-2 lead
- Four minutes later, Gatchell broke through the Bison's defense for the second time in the afternoon off a pass from Morrier, extending Rivier's lead to three
- In the final 12 minutes of the contest, both first-year Bianca Casna and junior Drea Dwyer found the back of the net, sealing the contest, 7-2
BOX SCORE BREAKDOWN
- As a team, the Raiders held the slight edge in corners, 4-2, and outshot Nichols 25-9 (15-6 on target)
- Gatchell was the team's offensive leader, logging two goals, with Morrier recording a goal and two assists

The Raiders return to the field for a Great Northeast Athletic Conference matchup with Lasell on Saturday, Sept. 20. Kick-off is scheduled for noon at Taylor Field.
