NASHUA, N.H.- The Rivier women's soccer team bested Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) foe Saint Joseph's College of Maine, 2-1, on Wednesday afternoon at Joanne Merrill Field.
With the victory, the Raiders improved to 4-3-2 (3-0-1 GNAC), while the Monks dropped to 2-4 (2-2 GNAC).
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Monks struck first, finding the back of the net in the 14th minute.
- The Raiders responded just one minute later, as Leah Morrier knotted the game at 1-1 with a strike from outside the 18-yard box.
- The match stayed level at halftime, with Rivier holding a 14-5 edge in shots.
- The Raiders broke the deadlock in the 73rd minute, with Bianca Casna heading in a Nadia Laxa corner to put them ahead 2-1.
- Rivier kept up the pressure over the final 17 minutes, unable to convert, but held the Monks scoreless.
