BRIGHTON, Mass. – The Rivier field hockey team fell to Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) opponent Simmons, 4-1, Saturday morning at Daly Field.
With the loss, the Raiders dropped to 3-8 (0-4 GNAC), while the Sharks improved to 2-9 (1-3 GNAC).
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Rivier opening the contest outshooting Simmons, 3-1 in the middle portion of the first quarter. The Sharks found their stride down the stretch, scoring two goals over a 1:45 stretch to close out the frame.
- The Raiders threatened with first-year Emily Barbosa, sophomore Camdyn Despres, and sophomore Lexi Davies recording three shots early in the second. Simmons logged its lone shot with 6:15 to play in the half but were unable to convert.
- The Sharks built on their lead in the late goings of the third quarter. Simmons found twine with 5:49 remaining, increasing its advantage to three.
- Rivier got on the board just 44 seconds into the fourth quarter as Davies found junior Kelsey Bain on the opening possession. The Sharks answered almost immediately, taking back their three-goal edge 1:45 later and sealing the 4-1 victory.
BOX SCORE BREAKDOWN
- First-year goalkeeper Tatum Flanagan made five stops in net.
- Davies and Despres led the team with three shots each.

The Raiders return to the field Wednesday, Oct. 7 for a GNAC showdown with Regis (Mass.). The contest is scheduled for 4:00 p.m. at Regis Stadium in Weston, Mass.
