MIDDLETOWN, R.I. – The Rivier women's ice hockey team fell to Salve Regina, 6-1, in its final non-conference contest of the season Tuesday night at St. George's Arena.
With the result, the Raiders moved to 13-8 overall, while the Seahawks moved to 13-11 overall.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Salve Regina jumped out to a 1–0 lead 8:55 into the opening frame.
- Senior Jessica Driscoll scored with 29 seconds remaining in the period, went bar down on a setup from first-year Maeve Kelly to even the score before the first intermission.
- Salve Regina regained the lead 3:37 into the second frame and struck again at the 8:07 mark to take a two-goal advantage going into the final 20 minutes.
- The Seahawks scored three goals in the third period at the 3:40 mark, 11:57, and finally at 6:51 to extend the lead to 6-1.
BOX SCORE BREAKDOWN
- The Seahawks outshot the Raiders 58-17 on net.
- Krauss recorded 52 saves.
- Sophomore Alexa Vencil blocked a team-high three shots.
