WORCESTER, Mass. – The Rivier University women's ice hockey team dropped its regular season finale to Worcester St., 3-2, in a Massachusetts Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) matchup Saturday night at the Worcester Ice Center.
With the result, the Raiders fell to 16-8-0 (8-4-0 MASCAC), while the Lancers improved to 16-9-0 (10-2 MASCAC).
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The first 20 minutes of play saw lots of back-and-forth action with neither team able to capitalize to go into the second knotted 0-0.
- At the 8:17 mark of the second frame, first-year Lexi Davies put the Raiders ahead on feeds from seniors Jessica Driscoll and Molly Dukesherer, on a power-play opportunity.
- First-year Chloe Bryda struck late in the period, finishing a feed from classmate Marina Bassett and senior Jillian Hallee to push Rivier's lead to 2–0 with 1:48 remaining.
- Worcester St. cut the deficit in half on a power-play goal at the 4:43 mark of the third period.
- The Lancers capitalized on another man-advantage opportunity to tie the game at 2–2 with 3:23 remaining in regulation.
- Coming out of a Worcester St. timeout, the Lancers buried the go-ahead goal with 26 seconds left on the clock.
