NASHUA, N.H. – The Rivier women's lacrosse team fell in the season opener, 8-6, to non-conference opponent Salem St. on Saturday afternoon at Joanne Merrill Field.
With the result, the Raiders begin the 2026 campaign 0-1, while the Vikings start their season 1-0.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Vikings took a 3-0 lead after the first 15-minutes of play.
- Salem St. extended their lead at the 10:59 mark of the second period.
- Sophomore Ashlynn Ledoux buried the first goal of the 2026 season on a free-position attempt at the 8:46 mark.
- On another free position attempt, senior Sofia Cebrero cut the deficit in half,4-2.
- With 41 seconds remaining before the break, first-year Kaycie Hudon buried her first collegiate goal off a feed from Cebrero, trimming the deficit to 4–3.
- The Vikings scored two consecutive goals to begin the third period to extend the lead to 6-3.
- Sophomore Brooke Carter scored at the 8:38 mark.
- Salem St responded 1:05, another pair of goals to double their lead 8-4
- Hudon tallied her second of the day with 2:11 left.
- Cebrero capped the scoring in the fourth to cut the deficit to two at the 13:36 mark, 8-6.
BOX SCORE BREAKDOWN
- In her first collegiate start, first-year Arrianna Imbriano recorded four saves
- Cebrero led in points with three.
- First-year Hayleigh Young caused a team-high five turnovers.
