MELBOURNE, Fla. – The Rivier softball team dropped a pair of games on Monday afternoon at the Space Coast Complex, falling 1-0 to Wisconsin–Superior in the opener before dropping a 10-0 decision to Monmouth (Ill.) in the second game of the day.
With the results, the Raiders moved to 0-2 on the season as their spring training trip in Florida continues.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Raiders and Yellow Jackets battled through six scoreless innings as both teams relied on strong pitching and defense.
- Rivier threatened in the fourth inning when junior Hayleigh Silva and senior Kylee Caetano recorded back-to-back singles, but UW-Superior turned a double play to escape the inning.
- Junior Sophia Quinlan reached base and moved into scoring position in the sixth inning as the Raiders looked to break through offensively
- In the bottom of the seventh inning, Wisconsin–Superior loaded the bases before the Yellow Jackets delivered a two-out single through the right side to score the game-winning run.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Both teams were scoreless through three innings before Monmouth broke through with three runs in the fourth inning to take the early lead.
- Rivier threatened in the bottom half of the fourth when Caetano worked a walk and senior Avry Nelson singled to right field, but the Raiders were unable to bring a run across.
- The Fighting Scots extended their lead in the sixth inning with a seven-run frame fueled by several extra-base hits to secure the run-rule victory.

- Senior Olivia Couto led the Raiders with a double, while Nelson added Rivier's only other hit
- Senior Hayley Rapaglia made the start in the circle and struck out five batters over five innings.
