STANDISH, Maine – The Rivier women's lacrosse team suffered a 16-3 setback to Saint Joseph's (Me.) in the Great Northeast Athletic Conference Quarterfinals Saturday morning at the SJC Athletic Complex.
The Raiders finish their season with an 8-10 record, while the Monks improved to 13-3 and move on the semifinals.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Saint Joseph's scored six unanswered goals in the opening quarter to take control early, holding Rivier off the board through the first.
- The deficit grew in the second as the Monks added four more goals to take a 10-0 lead into halftime, with the Raiders unable to break through offensively.
- Saint Joseph's continued to add on in the third with three more goals. Rivier generated a few opportunities but remained scoreless heading into the fourth.
- The Raiders got on the board early in the fourth as first-year Kaycie Hudon scored off an assist from junior Sofia Cebrero. After three Monks goals, Rivier added two late goals from sophomore Brooke Carter and first-year Hayleigh Young to close out the scoring.
