NASHUA, N.H. - The Raiders hosted the Saints of Emmanuel College this evening for a rainy Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) matchup. Both teams battled throughout the night, with a scoreless 88 minutes, but Emmanuel struck late to earn a narrow 1-0 win. 

With the result, the Raiders fall to a record of 2-4-2 (1-2-1 GNAC), while the Saints improve to 2-5-2 (1-2-1 GNAC). 

HOW IT HAPPENED 

• Rivier controlled much of the play from the opening whistle, outshooting Emmanuel 10-1 in the first half and generating several quality opportunities. 

• The Raiders earned five corner kicks in the opening 45 minutes and forced the Saints goalkeeper into three saves, but the two sides remained scoreless at the break. 

• Rivier continued to press in the second half, recording 11 shots and seven corner kicks after intermission, but couldn't capitalize on their opportunities. 

• After withstanding sustained pressure throughout the match, Emmanuel broke through in the 88th minute, providing the Saints with the lone goal of the evening. 

• The Raiders were unable to find an equalizer in the closing minutes as Emmanuel escaped with a 1-0 GNAC victory. 

BOXSCORE BREAKDOWN 

• Rivier outshot Emmanuel by a 21-5 margin and held an 8-2 advantage in shots on goal. 

• The Raiders dominated corner kicks 12-3. 

• Sophomore Alejandro Quezada led Rivier with five shots, while senior Kyle Clairmont added three attempts, including two on goal.

The Raiders men's soccer team returns to Joanne Merrill Field on Wednesday, Sept. 30th, to host the Lesley University Lynx in a non-conference contest. Kickoff is set for 3:00 p.m.
