Women's Soccer Shuts Out Dean, 2-0

NASHUA, N.H. - The Rivier women's soccer team shut out the Bulldogs on the road, securing a 2-0 victory over Dean on Monday afternoon in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) matchup.

With the result, the Raiders improved to 6-1-1 (4-0-0 GNAC), while the Bulldogs dropped to 2-8-1 (1-4-0 GNAC).

HOW IT HAPPENED

Sophomore Olivia Rosario started in net for the Raiders.
Rivier generated an early scoring opportunity when Leah Morrier struck the post in the sixth minute.
The Raiders continued to pressure the Dean defense, earning corner kicks and generating additional chances from Morrier and Kelly Callahan.
The Raiders maintained possession and continued to create opportunities, with shots from Bailey Gatchell , Aj Mulligan , and Keira Bretagne.
Rivier continued to earn corner kicks and apply pressure but, both teams remained scoreless at the half.
Isabella Bachhuber took over in goal for the Raiders to begin the second half.
The Raiders wasted little time getting on the scoreboard coming out of halftime, as Leah Morrier found the back of the net in the 46th minute to give Rivier a 1-0 lead.
Rivier continued to control the offensive tempo, earning multiple corner kicks and creating additional scoring opportunities through Bianca Casna, Nadia Laxa and Bailey Gatchell.
Rivier extended its lead to 2-0 in the 87th minute when Cara Churchill found the back of the net.
The Raiders continued offensive pressure and held on to secure the shutout victory.

BOX SCORE BREAKDOWN

Rivier entered the second half with a 0-0 tie before scoring twice to earn the 2-0 victory.
Morrier scored the opening goal in the 46th minute, while Churchill added the insurance goal in the 87th minute.
Rosario and Bachhuber recorded a combined shutout.
Rivier dominated offensively, finishing with a 28-1 advantage in total shots and a 14-1 edge in shots on goal.
The Raiders held a 10-0 advantage in corner kicks while limiting Dean to just one shot throughout the contest.
