Jimmy Smith entered his fourth year at the helm of the Rivier University baseball team in 2026.
Following the 2025 season, Smith guided the Raiders to their best-ever Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) record 14-17 (9-7 GNAC). Concluding the historic season, five members collected GNAC all-conference accolades. Ty Baker highlights the honors with a first-team selection. Rounding out the conference awards, Nate Bonacorsi, Kyle Hsu, Nathan Innerfield, and JD Normand earn third-team honors.
Smith coached Luis Colon, who earned a Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) First Team All-Conference selection in 2024 after breaking the program record for doubles in a season (15) while slashing .404/.489/.651 over 30 games.
Three Raiders earned All-GNAC honors under Smith's direction in 2023, with Dylan Aliberti and Nate Bonacorsi each making the All-Rookie Team while Zachary White earned a spot on the All-Sportsmanship Team.
Prior to coming to Nashua, Smith spent six years as an assistant coach at his alma mater, Wheaton College (Mass.) While at Wheaton, Smith assumed the duties of hitting and third base coach. before being promoted to the team's recruiting coordinator in 2018. During his tenure, Smith assisted the Lyons in two NEWMAC Championships ('21, '22), four NCAA Regional Appearances ('17, '19, '21, '22) with NCAA two Regional Championships ('19, '21), yielding two College World Series Appearances ('17, '21).
Smith was a four-year student-athlete for Wheaton's baseball program, winning two NEWMAC Championships ('13, '16). Over his career, Smith joined the 100-hit club with 120 hits while also racking up 43 RBI and a batting average of .294. During his senior season in which he was named All-NEWMAC First Team, Smith posted a .322 batting average with 55 hits and 20 RBI.
Upon graduating from Wheaton in 2016, Smith earned a Bachelor of Arts in sociology from Wheaton.
