The Lasell Lasers women's soccer team produced another GNAC win
Wednesday on Taylor Field against the Rivier College Raiders.
The 2-0 win today brings the Lasers to 6-3-2 overall and 5-2-2 in
conference play.
The Lasers controlled the tempo of the contest from the start,
with good offensive looks and impressive defense that held the
Raiders without a shot attempt in the first half. Kaitlyn
Fields (Stoneham, MA) and Alaina Mitrano (Medford, MA) secured the
defense, while Jordynn Frollo (Uxbridge, MA) patrolled both ends of
the field producing offensively and defensively for Lasell.
The Lasers offense came up with 11 shot attempts in the first
half alone, connecting on one. Liz McGeoy (Doylestown, PA)
was the first to score in the 24th minute of the game.
Frollo sent a beautiful pass to the middle, finding McGeoy wide
open to give the Lasers a 1-0 lead.
The Raiders first scoring opportunity came midway through the
second period when Michaela Kopp (Nashua, NH) shot
just shy of the top of the net. Rivier had a second
opportunity to tie up the game shortly after when Emily
Ingram (Litchfield, NH) took a close shot on the Lasers
net, which was deflected and cleared by Lasell's keeper Jamie
Remmers (West Islip, NY).
Lasell put the game away at 76:47, when Frollo sent a through
ball to Ashley Lambert (Salem, MA) who shot from the top of the box
and scored the Lasers final goal. Remmers collected 4 saves
in net, and acquired another shut out.
