Nashua, NH - In women's soccer action, the Wildcats of Johnson
and Wales University defeated Rivier College 4-0 on a beautiful
fall afternoon in Nashua, NH.
Spirit was out in force today as Rivier College hosted its
annual Spirit Day and open house. The women's soccer team
played in front of more than 100 student and fans, some with
painted faces, most with Rivier apparel and all with great
sportsmanship.
Johnson and Wales wasted no time at all in the first game of a
women's, men's double header when Stephania Cubelli scored
the game's first goal just 4 minutes into play. The goal came
off an assist by Brooke Hutchinson, who had two assists on the
day. JWU scored again with only 6 seconds left in the half
when Amanda Aguiar took a centering pass from Megan Chacusky to
take a 2-0 lead into halftime.
The second half belonged to Samantha Reynolds who scored both
JWU goals only 6 six minutes apart. The first came from an
assist by Jennifer Paquin, the second from Hutchinson.
Rivier Goalkeeper Brittany Puleo had 10 saves
on the day; however, The Raiders were outshot 14-3 as the offense
never found its stride. The win improves Johnson &
Wales to a 9-6-1 record, while the Raiders fall to 3-10-0.
