Nashua, NH - The Emerson College Lions defeated the Rivier
College Raiders tonight in men's soccer action 8-1.
Rivier goalkeeper John Jarvis (St. Albans, VT)
was in the line of fire tonight against Emerson College. The
Lions took a total of 41 shots with 28 of them being on goal.
Jarvis was able to stop 19 of them and one was stopped by a
defender, but 8 made it through into the net.
The most impressive of the Lion's goals was when Mike Giles
(Wakefield, RI) placed a ball in front of the net and Ken Nikravesh
(Geneva, Switzerland) used the header to fire it into the net to
make the score 3-0. The Lions added 2 more goals before the
half to make it 5-0.
The second half wouldn't get much better for the Raiders as the
Lions scored 3 more times before Rivier's Robbie Belcher
(Ocala, FL) took a lead pass from Chris Nugent
(Camberley, Surrey, England) and scored his first goal of
the season and the Raiders only goal of the night. Emerson
was able to play keep away for the remaining 10 minutes of the game
to cruise to the easy victory.
