Nashua, NH - Pine Manor goalkeeper Kayla Nielsen (Saco, ME) had
not allowed a goal this season in three previous starts, but the
Raiders of Rivier College were determined to end that streak.
At 12:25 in the first half, a Meg Hickey (Derry,
NH) corner kick resulted in Kathleen Moran
(Pembroke, NH) scoring the first of the Raiders three
goals on the night.
The score remained 1-0 until four minutes into the second half when
Emily Ingram (Litchfield, NH) took a centering
pass from Sarah Fletcher (Chelmsford, MA) and
headed through the posts to make it a 2 goal lead. The final
goal came off a goalkeeper deflection where Nina Seher
(Nashua, NH) was in the right place at the right time and
booted it into an unguarded net.
Most of the game was played in Pine Manor's end of the
field. Rivier out shot PMC 32-10, and made the goalkeeper
work with 20 shots on goal, compared to 7 by Pine Manor.
Rivier goalkeeper Brittany Puleo (Hudson, NH)
made a number of outstanding saves, including a point blank shot by
Pine Manor's Alicia Grenier (Swansea, MA) on a breakaway.
The 3-0 victory puts Rivier at an overall record of 2-3-0 and
1-0-0 in GNAC play. The loss is the first this season for
Pine Manor, dropping their record to 2-1-1 and 0-1-0 in GNAC play.
