Raiders hold off Mustangs

Rivier 80      Mt. Ida 75

Rivier (12-5; 4-1) was able to build a big enough halftime lead to then hold off Mt. Ida's second half surge. The Raiders held the Mustangs to 27 points in the opening stanza and took a 15-point lead into the break. The Mustangs stormed back to cut the lead to 3 points with under a minute left in regulation. Riv made enough free throws at the end of the game, including 2 clutch freebies from senior Justine Nims with 8 seconds to go, to pull out the victory.

Riv was led by a game-high 25 points from junior Blair Carpenter. Carpenter had a solid all-around game as she added 6 rebounds, 3 assists and 5 steals. Freshman Allie Parent had another monster game with 15 points, 6 rebounds, 9 assists and 4 steals. Junior Monica White played extremely well as she chipped in with 12 points, 4 rebounds and just 1 turnover in 31 minutes of action. Sophomore Steph Adams played huge off the bench as she tallied 8 points and pulled down a team-high 10 rebounds.
