Riv's defensive intensity in the first half gave them a 14 point
cushion at the break. Those 14 points proved crucial as the Raiders
withstood a furious Eagles comeback to take their 3rd consecutive
win over their cross-town rival. Daniel Webster scored 46 points on
47% shooting in the final stanza to help make a game of it. The
Raiders won the game with clutch free throw shooting (26 for 32 -
81%) and some timely baskets down the stretch.
Riv placed all 5 starters in double figures led by junior
Blair Carpenter's 16 points. Carpenter hit a trey
off an out of bounds play with 15:32 remaining in the first half to
reach the 1000 point milestone. Junior Jess Mellen
posted the game's only double-double as she finished with 11 points
and 10 rebounds. Senior Justine Nims and freshman
Allie Parent were huge for the Raiders. Nims
finished with 12 points, 8 rebounds and 4 helpers. Parent dropped
in 12 points (10 for 12 from the charity stripe) to go with 4
assists. More impressively, Allie had 0 turnovers in 30 minutes of
action. Junior Monica White chipped in with 10
points including a back-breaking 3-pointer with 4:26 left to go in
the game while sophomore Steph Adams added 8
points and 4 rebounds.
