Nashua, NH - Rivier welcomed NECC opponent Bay Path College to
Nashua today and exploded for 9 goals to beat Bay Path 9-1 for the
Raiders second win of the season.
Freshman Meghan MacDonanld (Dedham, MA) scored
the first goal of her career today to help the Raiders to the
victory and decided she liked it so much she went ahead and scored
2 more to give herself a hat trick in the Raiders 9-1 win.
Freshman Ashley Ruocco (East Kingston, NH)
started things off as she scored Rivier's first goal from a pass by
MacDonald just after the 21 minute mark in the first half.
From that point on the Raiders kept the pressure on as they scored
4 more times in the half to give the Raiders a 4-1 half time lead.
Rivier added 5 more goals in the second half while limiting Bay
Path to only 5 shots on goal. Ruocco had 2 goals, MacDonald
3, while Annie Braier (Saugus, MA), Lindsay Rettenmeier
(Ashford, CT), Erin Gatsas (Manchester, NH) and
Sara Wilson (Stow, MA)each chipped in with 1 goal
each. Kristen Tyler (Thornton,
NH) had 2 assists with MacDonald, Ruocco, Wilson and
Gatsas each getting 1 assist each.
Goalkeeper Jenna Beadle (Rumney,
NH) recorded 4 saves on 5 shots by Bay Path, with the
only goal coming from Bay Path's Sarah Gates (Crown Point,
IN) with just over 5 minutes remaining in the first half.
The win improves Rivier's record to 2-6 while Bay Path drops to
0-10 this season. Rivier will host Simmons College on
Saturday, October 17 at 5:00 PM.
