Rivier College (6-1 GNAC; 15-10 overall) defeated a pair of GNAC
opponents in three straight sets to extend their win streak to 5
games. The Raiders defeated St Joseph's College
(ME) 25-17, 25-20, 25-18 in the first stanza. First year
player Kenna Finlayson led all hitters with 12
kills while junior libero Danielle Stoodley led
all defenders with 19 digs. Seniors Lindsay
Chace and Becky Gautreau both played well
for RIV. Chace put down 7 kills while serving a team high 4
ace serves. Gautreau scooped up 7 digs and passed nails
for the match. Juniors Brittni Taylor and
Danielle Jacques chipped in on offense with 3
and 7 kills respectively. Taylor also played good D with 9
digs.
In the second match the Raiders started out hot in the first set
and easily handled Simmons College by the score of 25-12. The
Sharks didn't back down and gave RIV all they could handle in the
next 2 sets but the Raiders held their ground and defeated the
home team 25-23 and 25-21 to win the match. Sophomore setters
Lauren Saccoccio and Caitie
Callahan combined for 23 assists, 7 digs, and 5 ace
serves to lead the Blue and White.
Becky Gautreau and Danielle
Stoodley played great defense with a combined 26 digs
while Danielle Jacques and Brittni
Taylor combined for a 12 kills on offense.
Kenna Finlayson led all Raiders with 12
kills.
