Nashua, NH - Rivier College and Colby-Sawyer College will face
off in the championship game of the All Metals Inustries/Rivier
Tip-Off Tournament for the second year in a row. Rivier
defeated Anna Maria in the first game 65-60, while Colby-Sawyer
defeated Daniel Webster 71-68 in the night cap.
In game one Rivier came back from a 38-30 half time deficit to
beat the AMCATS of Anna Maria College. Rivier dominated the
second half of play by shooting 47% from three point range to close
the gap and take the lead. The Raiders defense held the
AMCATS to just 17% shooting in the second half. The Raiders
were lead by junior captain Nick Bean (East Longmeadow,
MA) with 17 points and 5 rebounds. John
Doherty (Chelmsford, MA) sparked the
Raiders from the bench with 16 points. The Amcats were lead
by Ryan Joyal with 14 point and 8 rebounds.
In the second game the Chargers of Colby-Sawyer held on to beat
the Daniel Webster Eagles with a three point shot by Will Bardaglio
with 8 seconds to go in the game. Colby-Sawyer ha a half time
lead of 39-29, but the Eagles came back in the second half to tie
the game and even momentarily take the lead. The score was
tied at 68 apiece when Bardaglio shot the off balance three pointer
to take the lead and eventually win the game. The Chargers
were lead by freshman Jason Chevrefils with 17 point and 14
rebounds. The Eagles were lead by Junior Chris Hanson with 21
points.
The Amcats and Eagles will face off on Saturday November
21st in the conciliation game at 12:00 PM followed by
Rivier and Colby-Sawyer at 2:00 PM at the Muldoon Health and
Fitness Center.
