Riv (2-2) came out strong in the first 20 minutes of the game.
They shot a sizzling 47% from the field while knocking down 44%
of their treys and 80% of their free throws. The Blue and
Gray took a decided 7-point lead into intermission.
The Raiders had several key breakdowns in the final stanza. The
two biggest were allowing an unprecented 14 offensive rebounds
while shooting a dismal 47% from the charity stripe. Foul trouble
plagued the visitors as Riv had 4 players foul out of the game. The
Blue and Gray were called for 10 more fouls and attempted 13 fewer
free throws than the Pride. Both of these things got the Raiders
out of sorts and out of rhythm. As has been the case of this young
team all season, they battled hard until the final buzzer.
Leading the way for Riv was freshman Mackenzie
Brooks (Colebrook ,NH). Kenz had a career night and was
the best rebounder on the floor for either team. She finished with
a game and career-high 16 boards (5 offensive). Sophomore
Amandra Purcell (Hudson, NH) had her best shooting
performance of the season as she went 3 for 4 from downtown and
finshed with a career-high 13 points. Amandra added 5 big rebounds
in the losing effort. Although the stats will not show it,
sophomore Kelsy LaRose (Litchfield, NH) had her
best overall game of the season. She played great defense (3
steals) and was tough on the boards. Seniors Monica
White (Augusta, ME), Jess Mellen
(Rockland, MA) and freshman Ashley Metivier
(Hudson, NH) were having solid games for Riv before some tough
calls by the officials limited their minutes. The three combined
for 34 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists in limited action.
The Raiders head home for some much needed rest and home
cooking. They return to the hardwood on December 3rd as they play
their first home game of the season against Lesley University.
