The Raiders (4-2) took a big win from another very strong out of
conference opponent. Riv continues to use a stifling defense to
pull out wins. The Blue and Gray held the potent Beaver offense to
just 52 points on 31% shooting from the field (21% from beyond the
arc). Riv was able to pull away from a 2-point halftime deficit by
controlling the boards, hitting free throws and taking care of the
ball. The Raiders out-rebounded Farmington 28-14 and committed only
6 turnovers compared to their 11 in the final stanza.
Senior Jess Mellen (Rockland, MA) had her best
overall performance of the young season. She finished with her
fifth double-double (15 points and 13 rebounds) and added
game-highs in both assists (6) and steals (6). Junior Steph
Adams (Nashua, NH) dropped in a career-high 14 points to
go with 7 rebounds, 2 blocks and 2 steals. Freshman Ashley
Metivier (Hudson, NH) put the game out of reach by sinking
6 consecutive free throws in the final 3 minutes of play. Ashley
finished with 12 points, 6 rebounds and 2 steals. Freshmen
Mackenzie Brooks (Colebrook, NH) and
Lauren Brett (Otisfield, ME) were also big
contributors chipping in with a combined 15 points and 10 big
rebounds.
The Raiders hit the road on Tuesday night for their only away game
in the month of December. Riv takes on cross-town rival Daniel
Webster College for a 7pm tip.
