No-4 Rivier College (21-1 overall; 7-0 GNAC) extended the nation's
longest win streak to 18 matches after a dominating 3-0 win over
Division I Harvard University. The Raiders showed off the
whole package of a high powered offense, solid blocking, tough
serving, and consistent passing to control the Crimson for most of
the match. Rivier hit a sensational .505, picked up 14
blocks, bombed in 6 ace serves, and had only 2 receive errors for
their best effort to date. Setter Zach
Hansen made great decisions all match, dishing out 44
assists, allowing for 3 Raiders to reach double digits in
kills. The 6'1 junior also tallied 5 blocks and 2 ace serves
in the effort. Sophomore Austin Soucy led
all attackers with 12 kills while passing a team high 22 for 22 on
receive and picking up 2 blocks and 4 digs. The tandem of
Jared Andreozzi and Scott Wright
were nearly unstoppable on offense combining for 22 kills with no
errors and a .688 hitting percentage. Andreozzi also played
great defense with a team high 8 digs and 3 blocks while Wright put
up 3 blocks and 2 ace serves. Freshman Drew
Corwin was clutch in the end of set three with 3 big kills
and 1 block while tallying 9 kills (9-1-13 - .615) and 2 blocks on
the match. Junior middle blocker Matt
Ferreira led all Raiders with 7 blocks and chipped in with
8 kills while libero Kyle O'Neill passed 14 for 14 on
receive.
