Boston, MA
Rivier College (1-1 GNAC; 4-7 overall) split in their first 2
GNAC matches of the year at Emmanuel College on Saturday. In
the first match of the day, Rivier was cruising early
and easily handling Emmanuel College with a 2-0 lead.
The Saints then stepped up their level of play in set three and
outplayed their visitors to gain all the momentum of the
match. RIV, who played hesitant, tentative, and unsure
when the pressure was on, just couldn't keep up and dropped their
level of play when they needed it most. Senior
Lindsay Chace tallied her first double double of
the season with a team high 16 kills along with 10 digs.
Nicole Rodriguez, Danielle
Jacques, and Kenna Finlayson each put
down 12 kills while Finlayson and Rodriguez helped out on defense
with 2 blocks apiece. Setter Caitie
Callahan scored a double double with 54 assists
and 10 digs while outside hitter Emileigh
Cenedella had 7 kills and 17 digs. The back row trio
of Danielle Stoodley,
Lauren Saccoccio, and Becky
Gautreau combined for 38 digs.
