Plymouth, NH-Rivier College (4-8 overall; 1-1 GNAC) struggled
offensively and fell short in a 0-3 loss to Plymouth State
University on Tuesday night.
The Raiders took themselves out of the match early committing 7
hitting errors alone in set one. RIV regrouped and came
storming back in set 2 jumping out to a 4 point lead early and
eventually a 24-19 advantage. However, hitting woes
resurfaced and Rivier failed to score on 5 consecutive set
points to lose the set 24-26. Set 3 was a reversal of the
previous set as Plymouth jumped out to an early lead and went up by
as many as 8 points in the set only to have Rivier come all the way
back to tie the set at 24. Plymouth played spot free ball for
the last 4 points as the Raiders stumbled under pressure with 2
serving errors and no offense.
Lindsay Chace was the lone
bright light for the Raiders on offense with 6 kills on 9 attempts
with just 1 error for a .556 hitting percentage. On defense
libero Danielle Stoodley led all
Raiders with 21 digs while Becky Gautreau,
Emileigh Cenedella, and Caitie
Callahan tallied 7 digs each.
