Raiders Lose Tough Battle With Lynx

Nashua, NH - Rivier played host to the Lynx of Lesley University tonight at the Raider Athletic Complex and fell short by a score of 3-2. The Raiders are coming off a 10 day stretch where they have played 5 games. All of the goals were scored in the first half.  

Junior keeper John Jarvis (Henniker, NH) again started in net. Jarvis faced 22 total shots, 12 in the first half and 10 in the second. Jarvis had 9 total saves. Of the 6 saves that Jarvis had in the second half, 3 where of the spectacular variety.

The Lynx opened the scoring at the 9 minutes mark Darius Koep received a ball from Tyler Reeves and made like superman, putting the ball in the back of the net. Rivier drew even 3 minutes later. Junior Chris Nugent (Camberly Surrey, England) got on the end of a Mike Birecki (Andover, MA) pass and knotted the score. Lesley wasted no time in getting back on top. This time Tyler Reeves was the recipient of an Ari Sinanis pass. Darius Koep scored his second goal of the contest in the 18th minute.  The first half scoring came to an end when the Raiders Gustavo Marques (Lowell, MA) knocked home a cross from freshman Eric Moreno (Lynn, MA). The Raider attack came alive in the second half. Freshman Ford Coates (Raymond, NH) and Mike Birecki both attacked goal from the defensive end of the field. Coates had 2 shots on goal while Birecki had 3.

The Raiders are off until Saturday October 3rd when they travel to Standish, ME to take on GNAC opponent St. Joseph's College of Maine.

The Rivier College Men's Soccer team hopes you will join them on Tuesday October 6th when they play host to the visiting Daniel Webster College Eagles. The Raiders will be Lending their support for Breast Cancer Awareness. The Rivier Nursing Department will have RN Nursing Students available to answer any questions you may have. The Rivier Baseball program will be traveling to DWC on Sunday October 4th.   Both programs will be showing their support by helping the Making Strides walk to raise funds for breast cancer research. The walk will take place on October 18th at 10am in Greeley Park in Nashua.
