The Raiders (12-4; 3-1) ran into a very deep and talented team
from Emmanuel College. The result was the worst loss for Riv all
season. The visitors had a couple of bright spots including pulling
down a game-high 21 offensive rebounds. They also took extremely
good care of the ball as they committed just 14 turnovers. It was
clear that the 4 tough road games in 7 days took its toll on the
young Raider squad. They managed just 14 field goals and shot just
14 of 28 from the charity stripe.
Senior Jess Mellen (Rockland, MA) played an
inspired 29 minutes. She pulled down a game-high 11 rebounds (6
offensive) to go with 6 assists and 3 steals. Junior Steph
Adams (Nashua, NH) and sophomore Amandra
Purcell (Hudson, NH) were the only double figure scorers
for the Blue and Gray. They finished with 10 points apiece and
combined for 7 rebounds and 3 assists.
The Raiders have a much needed and deserved break as they do not
play again until Saturday. It is back to the friendly confines of
the Muldoon Center for a showdown against the Wildcats of Johnson
& Wales University - game time is 1pm.
